SexTingles And Sex Toys

In the autumn of 2002 Newberry IT was approached to develop a sex toys website later become known as SexTingles.

The client wanted to sell sex toys, sexy clothes, fetish clothing and bondage toys, with the emphasis on sex toys but, following the initial development, the client decided not to go ahead with the business. Newberry IT considered the options of either discarding the work or taking on the business of selling sex toys. We decided to take the later option and now support and run the sex toys business ourselves.

Developing and running the SexTingles sex toys and sexy clothes business exciting and difficult.

We decide to create our own software rather than using established packages as then we could more easily make an original website that stands out from the competition. We can also add functionality as and when we need.

There have been challenges all round.

First there is the technical side of developing the website pages and software as well as the software for the backend (administration, billing, stock management etc).

Then there is the technical search engine optimisation work, the sales and marketing; the selection of lines and setting of prices. We have had to learn how develop and keep our excellent customer relationships.

The selection of which sex toys and clothes to offer and at what prices is a big challenge. We needed and continue to need, to build our customer base so we hold prices low to compete with all the many other sex toy sites.

So far it has been a very interesting and exciting experience for the company, though selling sex toys over the internet has not yet proved to be very profitable.
